Didsbury Good Neighbours - volunteer help in the community
Didsbury Good Neighbours

Didsbury Good Neighbours is a volunteer led scheme formed in October 2009 to meet the needs of the Didsbury community who are isolated or excluded through loneliness, ill health or mobility issues from day to day community life. Didsbury Good Neighbours is funded mainly by Manchester City Council and the scheme has charity status.

Didsbury Good Neighbours is managed by a committee of local people drawn from business, industry, ward councillors, residents and student volunteers and so is pro active in recognising how best to help the Didsbury residents who are at risk.

Didsbury Good Neighbours has two paid project workers however, the scheme is about recruiting, training and supporting volunteers to undertake the outreach work. We see volunteers as an integral part of the continued success and sustainability of the scheme.

What we need is a balanced team with a range of skills and attitudes to be able to offer an effective service to local residents. If you are interested in volunteering please do not hesitate to contact Marie Greenhalgh or Judith Bridgehouse, the coordinator and assistant coordinator, didsburygoodneigbours@live.com or judithdidsburygoodneighbours@yahoo.com
